Summary: Typed abstracts of Tucson Citizen newspaper articles, 1870 to 1915, a small amount of correspondence, and two manuscripts for conference presentations, 1960 to 1961. The bulk of the collection consists of typed early Tucson Citizen news items covering various topics in territorial Tucson from social events, holiday celebrations, Apache attacks, every day events, etc. Includes articles about New Year's Eve and Fourth of July celebrations, entertainments, Fort Lowell and many other topics. The two manuscripts, for conference presentations, are titled "Historical Research in Arizona History" and "Henry Buehman."

Biographical note: Museum curator and editor; Yndia Smalley Moore was born in Tucson, AZ on June 28, 1902. Her father was George Smalley, editor of the Tucson Citizen newspaper. She attended Tucson High School and later attended the University of Arizona. With Prof. Byron Cummings she opened a Mexican tea room in Tucson called La Cazuela. Biographical note: Photographer; Henry Buehman was born in Bremen, Germany, the son of Ludwig and Annie Buehman, on May 14, 1851. In 1868, with three years of photographic experience under his belt, Henry emigrated to the United States. He first went to New York, then to California. He arrived in Tucson in 1873 where he first worked for Juan Rodriguez studio, at the corner of Court and Maiden Lane, for about a year, then he bought out Rodriguez and established a photography/dentistry business in...
